Such a RARE and delightful addition to the classic, "Raggedy Ann & Raggedy Andy", family of dolls and story-book characters is our all-wood, "DANNY DADDLES" duck in black, wooden top hat. This, nearly 10-inch tall, strung wood segmented toy was patented in 1915 by Johnny Gruelle, famous author of many childhood stories including the series about Raggedy Ann and her family of dolls and toys. This charming character was designed after the illustrations used in Rose Strong Hubbell's book, "Quacky Doodles and Danny Daddles", printed by Volland & Co. and produced in 1916-18 by the famous Schoenhut toy company of Phila., Pa. Schoenhut ceased production of these adorable, comic ducks early in 1918 due to wartime cutbacks.
